If you are worried that some programs on your PC are secretly making connections to websites in the background, here's a quick tip that uses a simple DOS command to detect and prevent such suspicious activity:
1. Type cmd in your Windows Run box.
2. Type "netstat -b 5 > activity.txt" and press enter. After say 2 minutes, press Ctrl+C.
3. Type "activity.txt" on the command line to open the log file in notepad (or your default text editor)
The file activity.txt will have a log of all process that made a connection to the Internet in the last two minutes. It will also show which process connected to which website in this time. And not just the web browsers (like iexplore.exe or opera.exe), the log will also show your IM clients, download managers, email programs or any software that requires a net connection.
Scroll though the activity.txt file and look for any process names or website addresses that you are not aware of. If you track one , go to the task manager (or Process Explorer) to find the location of the executable on your computer and eliminate it.

GMail Drive
GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual drive in the Windows Explorer, allowing you to use your Google Gmail account as a storage medium. It allows you to do basic file manipulation, such as copy and delete, on files inside the GMail folder. Because it is a Shell Extension, the interface you work in is Windows Explorer itself. GMail files are physically stored as e-mails on your Google Gmail account. The files are stored in mail attachments, and the filename and file information (such as file size)
is stored in the message subject line.

Open URL's from your Task Bar
You can add an Internet URL address bar to your Windows XP taskbar. Doing so will let you type in URLs and launch Web pages without first having to launch a browser.
It will also let you launch some native Windows XP applications in much the same way as you would via the Run menu (so you could type in calc to launch your calculator or mspaint to launch Microsoft Paint. Here’s how you do it.
1. Right-click the taskbar, select Toolbars, and then click Address.
2. The word Address will appear on your taskbar.
3. Double click it to access it.
4. If that doesn’t work, your taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by right-clicking on the taskbar again and uncheck Lock the Taskbar.
NOTE: You may also need to grab the vertical dotted lines beside the word Address and drag it to the left to make the Address window appear.

E-mail + Trick
What is the E-mail Plus Trick?
When you submit your email to a site for registration, you either:
1. submit an e-mail address which you hardly check, OR
2. submit your default e-mail addy and be scared of getting thousands of spam mails
Now there's another way. You can use your default e-mail address AND not be scared of spam anymore!
How do I use it?
We'll take an example address here: generationx@gmail.com.
Now remember, whenever you register, DO NOT enter generationx@gmail.com. Instead, enter generation+something@gmail.com. Keep it different for every site you register to.
Example:
For tamilzone, you could enter generation+tam@gmail.com.
For xyz, you could enter generation+xyz@gmail.com.
How does it work?
The e-mails will be delivered to generationx@gmail.com, but the "To:" field in your e-mail will be "generation+tam@gmail.com".
Now you can easily create rules for moving e-mails to a folder from the Inbox, or deleting them altogether. In the rule, just specify the "To:" field as "generation+tam@gmail.com".
Whom does it work with? (Limitations)
It works with ALL big e-mail providers.
However, some sites reject the '+' sign in the e-mail. Always be suspicious of such sites.
Also remember to keep the text after the '+' sign short. Some service providers (e.g. Gmail) don't like very long usernames. As a thumb (general) rule, make sure your userid and custom text, WITH the '+' sign, should not exceed 14 characters. So it isn't recommended to enter your email as "generation+tamilzone@gmail.com".

How to send fax without a fax machine ??
What is Internet Fax?
Internet fax is a type of online service that provides subscribers with the ability to send and receive faxes without a fax machine. Instead, Internet access and an email account is all that is required.
To use an Internet fax service, a subscriber signs up for a small monthly fee and is assigned a fax number. When a fax is sent to the subscriber’s number, the service accepts the fax, turning it into a file that is forwarded to the subscriber’s existing email address.
To send an Internet fax, the subscriber creates an email. The fax content can be written in the body of the email, and attachments are normally permitted. The destination fax number is entered in the “To” field, along with “@” and the Internet fax service name. For example, if the fax number were 1-550-234-5678, the email would be addressed to 15502345678@site.com. In the “Subject” field the user enters the name of the recipient, “Attn: Mr. Jam” for example.
A small toolbar, available for download from the Internet fax service, is used as a plug-in inside the email program. Clicking on the “Send” button on the toolbar sends the email to the Internet fax service. Upon receipt, an automated program converts the email to a fax format, then faxes to the number supplied in the “To” header. The recipient receives the fax normally, through his or her fax machine.
This service can be very convenient. Of the many advantages, your assigned fax number is active 24 hours a day, so that your account can accept faxes around the clock. Contrast this with using a fax machine, which relies on your phone system being free to accept a fax. For those that use one phone line for fax, telephone, and dial-up, an Internet fax service is especially handy. Internet fax services also save paper and fax toner, and do not rely on a serviceable fax machine. All faxes are sent and received as files. They can be printed by choice, but it isn’t necessary.
A further advantage of an Internet fax service is that the subscriber does not need to be familiar with faxing software or fax machines. The convenience of sending and receiving faxes by using the familiar email interface appeals many people.
One of the best features of Internet fax services is that many offer toll-free fax numbers for the U.S. and Canada, so that your U.S. and Canadian clients can fax you for free. Sending faxes is also free of phone charges for the subscriber, as he or she is only sending emails.
When looking into Internet fax services, consider a service that offers a secure website. This provides a mobile “portal” to send/receive faxes while you’re on the road or away from home. Confirmation of sent faxes should be standard, so you can be sure your client got your communication. The ability to send to more than one fax number at a time can also be valuable.
Check for a page capacity, as some services may limit the amount of pages the subscriber can send/receive in a month.

How to surf the web even if Internet Explorer is disabled
All you have to do is
1) Launch a Windows application like Calculator
2) Click the Help button
3) Under Help, click "Help Topics," which will bring up a help window.
4) Right click on the title bar and select "Jump To URL."
5) Now you can type in any web address you like, but make sure to include "http://" at the beginning.[/list]
Basically what you're looking at is Internet Explorer 6 inside a help window, but this version of the program isn't quite as smart as IE6. It won't automatically add the http:// for you. And of course, there's no bookmarking feature.
