(July 17, London) Further evidence is emerging that the UK proscribed LTTE was able to collect large sums of funds from holding Pongu Thamil event in South London on 12 July 2008. In addition to filling standing order forms, the LTTE activists belonging to its UK front British Tamil Forum (BTF) sold specially made LTTE souvenirs, umbrellas, T’shirts and many other items.
Terrorism Act in the UK prohibits glorifying terrorism and collecting funds for a terrorist cause. The British Tamil Forum which is the UK arm of the LTTE is accused of undermining the Terrorism Act and involving heavily in the LTTE activities.
